Animated slideshow design

Hi everyone, Im not an animation designer by trade but I want to make something similar to this featured video, with static images, calling of logos and transitional designs. First off, is this something I would use After Effects for? Secondly, I need guidance on what and where to find the transition design.

That's perhaps simply some of those crappy cheap stock footage effects they sell on Pond5 and otehr such sites. The rest is just basic AE animation fpr scale and position.
