changing capture times

My camera chose the wrong year for quite a number of photos (Okay, I know who really made the mistake).

In correcting this I select a few photos, go to Metadata, Edit capture time. In the dialog I select the third choice (change the file creation date for each image). But then LR won't allow either the "original time" or the "corrected time" to change. The other two options will allow changes, and do work.

Any suggestions. I'm on a Mac with the latest MacOS installed. I've just updated to the latest LR with 15.12 installed.

You need to be using option ONE.

This is for Lr 4 but I think it applies to the latest versions.

I agree.  Both the instructions and Capture Time dialog could use a little clarification.  Especially the dialog.  When you change options in the dialog the explanation should change too
