Is my computer not good enough to run Ae?

After effects runs slow and sometimes freezes my computer, and I"m not sure what to do. Can anyone help?

After Effects System Requirements 

Freezing and Slowing down depends on How heavy the Project you are working on,

you may Purge memory :  Edit -> Purge-> All memory and Disk cash

and reset Preferences as well:

To restore the default preference settings, press and hold the following keys while the application is starting.

Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows)

Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS)

Neither are we. Just saying that it is slow is not useful when we don't know what exactly you are doing or what your settings are. Yes, your computer is not the most powerful on the planet, but that in itself is not reason enough why it should seize up.
