Is Adobe AIR support also ending in 2020 because Flash is dying?

Hey guys,

I wanted to know if you guys are going to stop support for Adobe Flash within Adobe AIR in 2020? It would be shame for you guys to stop supporting flash within the AIR. The news about Flash dying in 2020 didn't mention anything about AIR.

Do you guys have plans on integrating Adobe PhoneGap into Animate CC is order to make HTML5 based mobile apps?

Thanks, please let us know!

- James

Thanks Myra, Joseph & Colin!

I got a sigh of relief after reading the AIR Roadmap Post. I'll happily be able to continue coding my AIR app!

Peace guys!

Adobe AIR is not ending. The announcements were only around Flash Player in the web browser and do not affect either AIR or Animate CC. Check out the link Myra posted for more details.

Neither AIR or Phonegap really have Flash Player support. With AIR you can use codeless SWFs, or at publish time you can embed the code into the main application and then connect it back to the codeless SWF at runtime. Pretty sure that SWFs with code won't work in a Phonegap app. At least on iOS.

Both AIR and Phonegap can be used as a wrapper app for HTML5 content. If you're only showing the HTML5 content, then you might as well use Phonegap. If your app is richer than that, and only certain sections are a web view, then AIR would be the better choice. It would not need Phonegap to be integrated in order to do that.
