My Photoshop refuses to open, each time I click on it a message pops up saying " could not initialize photoshop because the preferences file was invalid(it has been deleted)." But I have not deleted anything from my computer and it was working fine just a few days ago. What's going on?

Which version?
What have you done for trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

Hi Katie
Try this:
Press and hold down Alt+Ctrl+Shift (Windows) or Opt+Cmd+Shift (Mac) as you start Photoshop*. You should get a prompt to delete current settings. Accept that and Photoshop will create a new Preferences file .
*Note you may need to try this a couple of times as the timing can be tricky
