We were asked to enable this IE security control and it is causing issues with users not being able to open PDF files on some web sites. Those employees with Reader XI have NO ISSUES so far. Acrobat XI Pro folks are having random issues where they are not seeing the pop-up documented in Using Acrobat or Reader with Internet Explorer Enhanced Protected Mode. Instead they see what is described in this article
Troubleshoot viewing PDF files on the web. Some have reported seeing the pop-up, but that it does not work for all web sites. (I have only duplicated the fact that Reader never shows a pop-up and Acrobat may show a pop-up.)
What is different between Acrobat and Reader that would make Acrobat have these issues? Why do our Readers users see no pop-ups, but Acrobat folks do? We're a bit surprised at something that was implemented in 11.0.6 is so difficult to use in 11.0.20.
Here is the security control from GPO and its mapping to the registry:
Security Control: Set 'Turn on Enhanced Protected Mode' to 'Enabled'
Registry setting: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]"Isolation"="PMEM"

Hi Eddie,
There have been enhancements to EPM during various security updates.
As Steve has mentioned in the reference thread you have quoted above this might be a compatibility issue. So, either try disabling EPM or try whitelisting the URL's which you are having troubles with, under Edit>Preference>Security(Enhanced)
If you are already have found a solution/workaround to this issue, please update this thread with your findings that may help others.

Since EVERY URL is broken a whitelist approach is not even remotely possible. Disabling EPM is not a possibility either. Adobe needs to step up to the plate.

The XI versions were superseded years ago. They go EoL very soon.

Yes, but others have reported that DC is also broken. I have not yet had the time to duplicate the issue to see for myself. I really hoped someone would just point out I overlooked a document on how to configure things properly. Still just amazed the FREE product works as advertised and the PAID one does not.
