Why should there be a problem with this name?

Hello everyone, today I found a problem at work. I first saved an AI file, open it in AE, select the synthesis and found that it is not sub-layers, I know that I AI file is not divided layers. But when I back to the AI layer out, go back to AE import. There is still no layer. I tried for a long time and found that only change the name and then import it can work properly.So is this bug? Or where do I understand that there is a problem.
