Brush showing as cross hairs and not working, 16 bit (Photoshop)

Hi, i'm trying to create a new signature brush when saving the brush it makes it 16 bit and I get given crosshairs instead of the sample brush to use on an image, what am I doing wrong?

Hi

How big is the brush?  The 16 bit part should not be a problem.

You will see a crosshair rather than a brush if the brush size is too big for the page - see example below

Increase the size and cursor changes
