I'm placing low quality images and they're showing as either black boxes (high quality display performance) or lines (typical performance).

I have no idea how to fix this!

Which version of InDesign and OS?

Details of the file format and size would be helpful, do they open successfully in other applications such as Photoshop?

Hi Derek!

Sierra 10.12.6

Creative Cloud 2017.1

JPEG 324kb as an example (but I have about 30) opens in PS but has this warning.

I saved the image off dropbox.

Does this occur with all images, or this one or this batch?

If you select the image and check the details in the InDesign Links panel what does it state regarding effective resolution and ICC profile?

Well not that much help!

Clearly then this bunch of images is corrupt, two suggestions:

– Can you download them again?

– Maybe try opening them in Photoshop and doing a Save As to see if that clears the problem?

Open the images in Photoshop, assign sRGB as the profile (Edit>Assign Priofiles...) and resave. I would save as PSDs to avoid additional JPEG compressions.
