Grayscale . . Not the typical question

All my channels are open. The image is set to RGB. I was working in a layer and it was in color. I was moving back and forth in other layers and now one particular layer is grayscale. When I pick a color in the color picker box it shows color but when I try and use the color on that layer it turns gray. When I go to Adjustments under Image all the Saturation levels are normal at "0".  Any ideas on how to get my colors back? Help under deadline!!!

Check the layer blending mode. Is it normal? - Sounds like it may be luminosity

You can also open your History panel and either step back until it goes back to color, or look at the list to see if it described what you did.

Is the RGB channel selected? Do you have the pixel content, not layer mask content selected in the layer panel?
