Lightroom not recognising images

When I try to import images into Lightroom, the system recognises my camera but no images appear, as a result I cannot import anything. Does anyone know how I can sort this out?

I have tried importing images to a hard drive and importing this way. Unfortunately I am experiencing the same problem.
