Add manually added geotag information to the original

I have geotagged a number of old photographs manually in LR6.  How can I get LR6 to append this piece of metadata to the original image files.  I have tried to find the answer to this question with no success.

Save the metadata to the file - Cmd/Ctl S or Metadata>Save Metadata.
