I have Lightroom 4.4.1 64 bit in Windows 10 (with latest updates). Since yesterday LR crashes when opening CR2 files. I uninstalled recent Windows updates and tried again, but no go. Could not find the crash logs at the User directory (uder C:\Users\[Me]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\. Any steps I should do?

I solved the issue in the hard way. After about couple of weeks of searching around turned in nothing useful, I finally gave in and upgraded to LR6. To my utter dismay, LR6 also crashed when opening an image. But this time, it left a cruicial info in Eventlog:

BTW, I have also renamed the agprefs file at C:\Users\[Me]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\, but did not help.

(a) When I tried to add an folder with CR2 files to an existing Catalog, or just right-click a JPG or CR2 file and choose to open using Lightroom. The message "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working" gets displayed. This is the event viewer info:

Are you doing this ADD from your operating system, or from within Lightroom?

I have been using it for ~4 years (on Vista and Win10). I have similar issue once about 6 months back. I "refreshed" Win10 and it went away. I tried the same now, and not helping. This started about a week back. I uninstalled all Windows updates installed in the last month, and launched LR, no go. Since then, my Win10 installation is up-to-date.

After a quick search, the solution was to unplug my kid's Samsung phone which was accidently plugged into the USB port. As explained here Lightroom 6.5 on Windows 10 - Stopped Working , unplugged the phone, and all is well. I am poorer by about $90.
