I have this older project that I created using a C4D file to create an Abstract OBJ file that I use in AE, then I apply to a solid layer Trapcode FORM and use the OBJ file to drive FORM and I used also Trapcode Shine to get volumetric light. After the latest update for AE, I am getting a warning every time I open this file with the following:
After Effects warning: A plugin is attempting to do an invalid operation: modifying a locked project
I contacted RedGiant, they asked me to uninstall and install again TRAPCODE SUITE, which I did, and re-install and it should have fixed the issue, but it is still happening.
Any help is appreciated

do you have writing permission for the project folder (on windows the "read only" should be unchecked, on Mac there should be a similar preference). I'd suggest you contact RG again and see what they suggest when reinstalling dont work.

Get a version that is actually compatible, don't just reinstall your old stuff.

Hi Kevin, I'm also experiencing exactly this problem in CC17 14.2.1.34 with trapcode Form V2.2. Uninstall and reinstall of both AE and Trapcode doesn't not rectify the problem.

I think this question was already answered by Dave LaRonde in this thread:
After Effects warning: A plugin is attempting to do an invalid operation: modifying a locked project
Its more of a work around, but I've used it a few times already, and it does work for me.
Hope it helps.
Cheers.

Right-click After Effects and "Run as administrator" and that fixed the problem for me.
When you open your project it should work without errors.
I'm using AE 2019 ver 16.1.3 (Build 5)
