Adobe X Pro crashing every time after sending a PDF attached Email

This is a VERY strange issue.

Adobe X Pro

Whenever I attach a PDF to an email using EITHER the app's attach to email function, OR directly in the email, Adobe crashes. The emails seem to be going out fine, and this does not impact functionality of Adobe after clicking "close" on the crash dialog, but I get the crash notice every. single. time. If it's relevant at all, I use Outlook 2016.

Here is the error signature:

What I've tried:

1. I've tried repairing Adobe

2. I've tried uninstalling and resinstalling Adobe

3. I've tried creating the folders ToolsSearchCacheRdr and ToolsSearchCacheAcro in the appropriate AppData directory

4. I've tried disabling Windows preview pane and Adobe Share Pane

5. I've tried setting process priority to high for Adobe

6. I've tried turning off DEP for Adobe (does not work)

I've really done some legwork here and I can't seem to fix it. Please advise.

Thanks,

I can't tell you for sure if it's fixable or not... You can try running the Cleaner Tool (Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs ) and then try to re-install it, but that's about all I can think of.

However, you missed the boat for an upgrade. Acrobat X is too outdated to qualify for one. You'll need to purchase a new license/subscription.

What's your Windows version?

Acrobat X is quite old and not compatible with Windows 10 or Office 2016...

Thanks for the quick reply. This is on a Windows 7 Pro machine.

Do you think Office 2016 is what is causing the issue then?

Could be... It's possible the integration between Acrobat and Outlook 2016 is broken and causing this issue.

Is there any way to reconcile that? Is it worth our time?

If upgrading is the only solution, I guess we have no choice, but I'd just like to make sure that this is unfixable.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I see. I'll follow those steps, and if it doesn't work, we'll just have a buy a new license. Thanks for all your help!
