Applying Redactions Blanks Non-Redacted Text

I have a document with renderable text.  When marked redactions are applied, much of the non-redacted text in the document is also disappearing.  It leaves a blank page where you only see redaction boxes.  Anyone??  We've come up with a work around (printing the docs to PDF, then redoing the OCR & redactions), but that is not an ideal solution.
