Desktop recording in Windows Vista x64

I am having and issue getting captivate to register mouse clicks. I am trying to record a section of my desktop, including the start menu. Captivate will not register the start menu being clicked. It also will not register the "end" button on the keyboard, when I try to end the recording. I have to click the icon in my system tray.

If I have an app open or an IE window, it records as normal.

What gives?

Hi there SISk12

I don't believe Captivate has been certified to work on the 64 bit operating system.

Cheers... Rick

Hi Rick!

I have tried this on a 32-bit variant with the same result.. Most (98%) of the recording I do, is within an IE window, and it works fine there (on both 32bit and 64 bit Vista ). I am just not able to record anything on the desktop, or the start menu, right now.. I am installing Captivate on a XP box I have to see if I still have the same issue. If I can record the desktop/start menu on XP, then great, but that still won't help me in the recording I am trying to create. (Turning on/off UAC in Vista)

Yeah, captivate 3 works fine as far as recording the desktop/start menu in XP.

What is so different about the taskbar in vista, from XP, that captivate wouldn't like recording it?

Maybe it's just 64-bit. Seems to work for me in 32-bit Vista.
