Selection Tool/Arrow / Image Frame/Resize not working?!

My InDesign and Illustrator apps are not allowing me to use the shift button to hold objects in proportion when resizing them, and also in InDesign - not letting me choose both the frame and the object and resize them together. And when I hold 'alt/option' for the shortkey to duplicate it doesn't work either...

There definitely seems to be a bug but I don't know how to fix it? I have tried uninstalling it and re-installing it and nothing seems to work?

**I have checked my Shift button and it is working just fine!

Hi,

Please clean your InDesign cache and preferences. Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your InDesign preferences

Once you do that, please try the following...

Press command and shift keys before clicking on the text frame corner(before the cursor changes) and then resize the frame.

Command is to make the image move with the frame...

shift expands the frame in proportion...

I am also having this issue, but trashing the Defaults and SavedData, uninstalling and reinstalling are not solving the problem.

Using 'E' allows them to resize together, but does not keep the same aspect ratio as the shift-command resize normally do.

Like the OP, my alt/option key to copy is also not working.

This is so frustrating because it's one of the most basic functions. Any ideas for any other solutions?

Hi,

see if any browser is running side by side with InDesign.

Could be that a browser add-on is causing this.

To test:

Make sure no app is allowed to start automatically.

Restart your computer.

Open InDesign, then the document and try to resize the page item.

Regards,
Uwe
