want to change the Security Method

When i go to Properties and then the Security Tab, i want to change the Security Method to Password Security.  However when i go to change it i cant because "You cannot chnage the security on this document because the document is signed or certified".  How do i turn this off so i can Password protect? Thanks

Thanks for the reply but do you have any more details?  How do I turn the signing off?

Don't sign it if you want to edit. Security is editing. Set it before signing.
