I click on "Timeline" under Window and the Timeline panel does not open up. NOTHING happens. There is a checkmark beside the word Timeline but it is nowhere to be found.

Ok, that's an older version of Photoshop CC and pretty much outdated. With your CC membership you can upgrade to CC 2017.1.1

at no extra cost.

Otherwise you have to reset this way:

If you need a quick and dirty way to restore your preferences, here's a way you can do it using a keyboard shortcut on launch:

Windows - double-click the PS icon to start Photoshop

                  Immediately Hold down CTRL-SHIFT-ALT

You will see a delete preferences dialog. Click “yes".

Macintosh - Hold

My general preferences panel does not look like this. I looked around for the reset but couldn't find it.

I am working in Photoshop CC Version 14.2.1 x 64.

Thank you. This worked and I would NEVER have figured this out on my own.

I DID discover that I had a newer version of Photoshop CC that I will use from now on but just in case I need to open a file with the older Photoshop I will keep it around.

You can also change the workspace to animation and if it already, you can reset the workspace from the same menu. By default it is in the essentials workspace.

Thanks for replying but do not see anywhere that I can change the workspace to Animation. I looked at some of the other workspaces and none of them seemed to be suitable.

Sorry I only speak English.

Interesting enough, I had a newer version of Photoshop CC on my computer and the Timeline opens up in that version.

I tried all of the above suggestions in the older version and the Timeline just does NOT open up. I don't know what the answer is to that.
