I'm using Photoshop CC 2017 and, all of a sudden the program is not behaving like it used to.  When I click on an object, the bounding boxes and dotted lines do not appear and all of the Layer Panel selection indicator dots are missing.

Please Help!  Many thanks in advance.

Thanks, Michael.  Her it is.  Note the missing Selection Indicator Dots in the layers panel.

Alleycat,

  1. Choose the layer with the move tool
  2. Go to the Control Bar at the top of the screen
  3. Tick Show Transform Controls.

Thank you so much, Master Mo.  That solved one of my problems.

I still do NOT have the Selection Indicator Dots on the Layers Panel, though and that is maddening.

Funning thing is that this behavior seems to persist in Photoshop CS6 as well.

Is there a configuration file that needs to be deleted somewhere?  I did delete the Cache files in the ~/library folder, but that didn't help.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Thanks, Dave.  I apologize if I'm confusing the two programs.  I am a newbie to both Illustrator and to Photoshop.

I have been using Photoshop for a little bit and I have to say that it seems to be behaving a bit differently than it used to.  I don't remember the Move Tool on the tool panel, and it seems that the selection and direct selection tools used to result in selecting items and having the selection handles show.  It seems that the only way the handles show now is with the Move Tool.  All of this seems to have changed since I uninstalled Kaspersky Virus Protection.  Some weird stuff happened, like Acrobat Pro license errors that required calls to Adobe.

Many thanks to everyone for their help.  Sorry for my lack of knowledge.
