Exposure Brush stopped working

I've never had a problem before and use it often to white out backgrounds. I'm half way through a project for a client

and the exposure brush has just stopped working. HELP urgently needed or I'm not going to get paid!

Please show us a screen shot of LR with the Develop module shown and the brush option selected.

It seems, I say seems because you didn't post the full settings area in your screen shot, your exposure setting is just above Zero ( 0 ) and if you want to wash something out I would think it need to be set much higher.

Also check to be sure that Flow and Density are not near zero.

I don't think they are, but will have another look. Not having a good day, what with also trying to burn a cd to a dvd.
