I am using Adobe Acrobat CC for making documents 508 compliant (converting Word or InDesign documents to PDFs).
In the PDF, when making text changes or updating Web links in the "edit" mode of the PDF, text in the tag tree disappears in real time. The "read out loud" function still reads the text as if it was there--but the tags are all empty. Is there a fix for this?
Yep, a PDF is not really intended to be edited. In my experience, doing so will almost always mess up some tags - even something simple like changing text color to meet color contrast requirement. Only solution I can offer is to edit the source document - if the source document is available - and recreate the PDF.

Thank you so much! We always thought changes could be made. I just happened to be looking at the tag tree at the same time making changes within the PDF. I appreciate your response!
