So when I go to open any 3D object it HAS to rasterize or it won't open.
This is a problem cos I need to keep it 3D but this makes it 2D and I don't know a way around it.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Kieran,

Please provide us with additional information.

  • What version number of Photoshop are you using, and what OS and version?
  • Where did the 3D .PSB file originate? Did you create it in Photoshop, or did it come from somewhere else?
  • When you say "open any 3D object," can you describe exactly what you're doing?
  • Screen shots including any relevant dialog or warning boxes would be helpful.

Thanks,

Mike

Hey Michael,

I'm using CS5 64 bit (Version: 12.0.4) on Windows 10.
The 3D file is from the internet, I can send you link if you'd like?
I'm just double clicking to open it and it pop up with a prompt "Rasterize 3D Layer"
Which give me two options "Okay" or "Cancel"

I've attached the screenshots to for you
(I think I meant .PSD not .PSB)

This is the file I try to open;
This is what appears when CS5 is finished loading1.png

This is a flat 2D version of the file I tried opening, it should be a 3D model

Hi Kieran,

If you have a link to the file, please send it and I’ll try to take a look.

Have you tried any other 3D files from other sources? Usually 3D files are provided in a 3D file format, such as OBJ, KMZ, DAE or 3DS. These files can be opened directly, or can be added to an existing document by using the command 3D > New Layer from 3D File.
