Scripting: Open current file in another program

I am looking for a script to open the current file in another program, is there a way to do this. I am using osx.

what program are you trying to open the current file in?

With javascript it is possible to open the file in the default program it is set up with.

However, it is possible to trigger other programs such as other kinds of scripts, such as mentioned by Monika, with javascript, too.
