Use of Digital Signatures in PDF/A

I'm attempting to create PDF/A files in Adobe Pro XI which contain digital signatures. I have tried several formats, but it's unclear which is appropriate to be able to validate the digital signature down the road. Thanks for the help.

Should be possible. Of course you have to first make PDF/A then sign as the last thing, you can't convert a signed file to anything. I found this but I suspect it may be too technical to be useful -- Technical Note 0006 – Digital Signatures in PDF/A-1 – PDF Association
