Is there an explanation on why it looks 8-bit and not smooth? Is it my graphics card? My resolution is at 300. I don't understand why this happens, is it my monitor? Is it photoshop?

My text here isn't small, it's actually really big, is this normal?

You are zoomed in to over 700 %.

At that zoom level, each pixel in your image is being represented by 7x7 = 49 pixels on your screen.

Zoom out to 100% (where 1 image pixel = 1 screen pixel) and view it.

One other thing - it looks like your type may have been entered without any anti-aliasing i.e. set to "none". You can choose the setting in the options bar for the text tool

I agree with Dave - no anti-aliasing and you are zoomed in at a weird %.

I zoomed out, set it to smooth, changed the font color so you can see it better. ddfxx.jpg

It does look smother, although the letter ' A ' looks kinda jagged but I'm guessing that's my graphics card's fault?

That does still look wrong. Here is the same font at 100% zoom on mine (you have to double click to view as the forum software will also scale it)

Try resetting preferences and then create a new type layer

I have figured it out.

It seems to be that it only looks jagged while editing it within photoshop, however, after rendering the image, it looks smooth. So this is an issue on how my PC renders edges since I notice this in games as well. Thanks for all the help.
