When I try this, I get an error message saying that the account cannot be deauthorized and to try again later. I've tried this several times over a long period.

I ended up solving the problem by dragging the authorization file from the library to the trash. I found this solution on a different thread. Thanks for trying to help.

Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.
If you are using 10.7, see https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html

I have just wasted 15 minutes trying to chat with someone about this issue only to be told to go away because it's a free product.
Simple question - I need to deauthorize an e-book. I downloaded it to a Windows 10 computer and then tried to load it onto a Sony PRS-T1 e-reader. It says the file is corrupt. I need to re-download the book from my e-book supplier (Booktopia/Australia). How do I do that?
Thanks

You can not deauthorize a eBook. Only eBook Reader or ADE.
If you want downlad a ebook new get to the website how has order the eBook. Login in this site and download again in the library of the eBook site.

I received instructions from Booktopia. They said I had to log in to Adobe Digital Editions.
1. Open Adobe Digital Editions.
2. Click on Help, then on Authorise Computer.
3. Choose Booktopia from the drop down menu as the eBook Vendor
4. Enter the email address and password for your Booktopia account, then click on Authorise.
But I cannot select the supplier (Booktopia) from the dropdown – it only has Adobe ID. AN when I enter my Adobe ID I just get an error message
Activation Server Error
Code: E_AUTH_NOT_READY.
I just wasted more time in a chat session to be eventually told to go away.
What is going on there??????

What does that mean? Version of what??? Why do I have to use Adobe Digital
Editions at all? It's just another layer of complexity. I used to be able
to just download the ascm file from the vendor and transfer the book to my
Sony e-reader.

After wasting even more time, and changing computers, I finally managed to re download the book. Not that you care, but I'm totally unimpressed with Adobe Digital Editions and I will avoid using it wherever I can.
Thanks for not helping.
