Counter Expression

What do I add to the following expression in order to make the source text count up in decimals, as follows.... 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 etc. etc.

Have you tried:  parseFloat(thisComp.layer("your layer name").effect("Slider Control")).toFixed(1)

Of course, if the Numbers effect does it for you then it may be enough?

I followed that to the letter but I'm getting the error 'Couldn't find the layer name Controls. Expression disabled'

If you change the Layer name it should work 🙂
