Hi,
[This is my first post so I apologise if I'm not following protocol etc.]
I'm using 12.1.0.56 Build in macOS High Sierra v 10.13.
When I move my mouse pointer over an InDesign window it turns into a black star or a shifting block of random noise and colour.
What can I do to fix this?
Thanks!
Chris
Hi everyone,
This issue has been resolved with the MacOS 10.13 Supplemental Update released today. Please update your OS if you're experiencing this issue with High Sierra.
Thanks,
Wren

This is a known bug, Apple are working on it.

There are several posts about this issue. It's caused by High Sierra. A fix is coming but is not yet available:

Nope. Problem still exists in 10.13.1 Dev Beta 1

Ssshh, Don't mention this bug. Both parties are aware of it and are actively doing nothing.

What evidence do you have for that assertion?

Oh, I don’t know. Passage of time? No email warning users not to upgrade? Zero customer service. Just the little things, I guess.

Who upgrades an operating system without doing any research or a full back up?
There’s announcement at the top of this forum and it’s been discussed here ad nauseum for weeks. Plenty on social media, too.

Do you really think that all Indesign users are floating around these forums? The excuses you make for this company are ridiculous.
This issue was from the first beta. Adobe knew about it. CC is sitting on top of an OS that changes every year. It is absolutely Adobe's responsibility to make sure it works, or give a heads up to the users that it doesn't.
Announcement at the top of this forum? Brilliant.

If I had to pick the single most important thing that I have learned from volunteering on this forum for 18 months, it would be...don't rush to upgrade your OS.

It’s mind boggling!
I test all of the Windows Insider builds to make sure that when there’s a public release it’s ready to go. And to use the fact that it’s been known about through the beta to bitch about Adobe not fixing Apple’s bug is even more mind boggling that anyone would actually upgrade a production machine. It’s pure stupidity.

You are completely missing the point. What if the user didn't know? What if the user does not frequent these forums, or follow Adobe on social media. If Adobe knew it didn't work, whether it be Adobe's bug or Apple's, they should have warned the (stupid) users.

When you're using production computers for real work, you should always create a backup of your computer before performing major OS upgrades. These kinds of problems will always happen, and all bugs cannot be fixed before the OS release. That way you can always roll back to the previous version. The interaction a complex application combined with a very complex OS can have lots of side effects.

No…it’s you that’s missing the point. Never assume everything is going to work with an operating system upgrade.

No matter how you spin it, Adobe should have warned it's users.

Maybe Apple should have warned its users.

I agree Adobe should have warned its InDesign users, via email or social media. Aggravating.
It's because we can't rely on software companies doing the right thing, though, that we have to take our own steps to protect our production computers.

Adobe doesn't know until a new build from Apple to know whether something is fixed. Up to the last "Release Candidate" version, it wasn't clear whether the fix would make it into the release version.
That doesn't excuse trying blame others: You should hold off making updates on production computers until you're sure they're going to work. And you should make a backup of your computer when doing a major OS update so you can roll back if you need to.

Never be too early to upgrade a version of an application or an operating system, especially if these are mission critical.

Please see the following response in a separate thread Corrupted Cursor in InDesign .
This thread has run its course. A user posted the problem, the cause was identified and confirmed by Adobe. And we don't know when Apple will provide the 10.13.1 MacOS update to fix this!
