Mercury Playback is greyed out.
My rig is z840 2x Xeon
7 x nvidia gtx 1080
Latest Nvidia Drivers (381.65)
I can't understand why Premiere does not see it / use it.
Thanks

You have 7 videocards?
Moved to Hardware forum for expert advice.

Yes, I use GPU's for rendering (Octane).
1 1080 is in PCIe in motherboard, and the other 6 are in Cubix Xpanders.
However the fact that Mercury is not using even one of them is a bitter surprise.
Thanks for moving it to the correct forum.
Cheers

As friend adviced me I got older Nvidia driver: 378.78
and now it's all working fine!
Crazy that newer drivers are not working well!
Thanks,
C

I would just temporarily disconnect your second monitor and see if that might be your problem, it has occured with s few setups.

Thanks Bill,
What I did now is to switch off one monitor and detach one Cubix so I have 5 x1080 working. It has solved the problem, I can use the GPU's in Premiere and the playback of 4k material is very smooth.
However this is a problem since I use this workstation for GPU rendering as well and needles to say every additional render node saves precious time.
I can see that GPU sniffer says that only 4 GPUs can be supported by premiere, but this is still 5 GPUs.
I tried earlier to install the latest NVIDIA drivers and that just caused my entire system to crash, and I had to restore Windows.
I know it's not a common setup, but it would be helpful to have someone from official Adobe support to intervene on this. I'm sure I'm not the only one with multi-gpu rig.
Thanks,
Ced

have you tried setting nvidia control panel premiere.exe as primary gfx app for just 4 cards?

Hey guys,
Just to let you know that Mercury works in CC Premiere 2018. It is flying with different layers of 4k and lumetri. Finally...
Thanks,
Ced
