I have a lightroom installation 6.7 installation.

The program works wonderful I'm very happy with it.

But:

After using the book feature for 2-3 minutes it becomes terrible slow.

It is not possible to work anymore and even to stop the program it takes 2-3 minutes.

A new start of lightroom doesn’t help, I have to restart the computer and then lightroom works perfect again, but the use of the book feature is not possible

Can somebody help?

Details:

Win-10 , 16 G Ram, skylight processor

Thanks

Hans

Hi Hans

Try resetting the prefs. Simply hold down the Alt+Shift keys whilst launching Lightroom. Release the keys after a few seconds and you should see a pop-up dialog – image below. Click Yes.

Hi Jon

Thanks for your help

It really works for some minutes, sometimes even longer.

As soon I wotk longer in the book programm the problem comes back.

I think the worst is to work with text comments.

Now ther eis something new, I have the following error message:

bad argument #1 to' get GeometryBounds

To restart of lightroom doesn't help, Ihav to restart the computer

and as long I don't use the book function everthing works fine.

I'm I the only customer using book-function?

Is it better to use a online programm from a picture company?

Thanks and regards

Hans

I have used cewe and have been pleased with the results. You can download their book creation software for free. No need to be limited to Blurb.

I know cewe, but I still hope to find out whats wrong with my lightroom.

I ask myself:

Did I catch a virus

Has it something to do with the programm Adobe CEF Helper, which is somtimes running with 3 instances

Is something wrong with the installation

Shall remove lightroom and install it again

Do you have any creative cloud apps or used the LR6 trial which requires the Creative Cloud desktop app?

There are a number of suggestions from signing-out, quitting etc.

Yesterday I have just experienced the same problem with Book Module.- Extremely slow to respond to anything.

Just selecting (click to highlight) one page of the book took upwards of 30 seconds. It took minutes! for a right-click menu to appear anywhere.

I have Windows-10 16Gb ram  Nvidia GT640  LR-CC2015.7

I did notice in my task-bar notifications there was an update for my Nvidia graphics driver. (375.95-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql.exe)

I did the update- Did a 'cold' reboot

Now Book module is back up to speed! Much happier.

Just sent a 216 page, large landscape book to blurb. (With internet speeds in Australia- it did take hours!!)

Regards. My System: Lightroom-Classic 13.2 Photoshop 25.5, ACR 16.2, Lightroom 7.2, Lr-iOS 9.0.1, Bridge 14.0.2, Windows-11.

Same problem here. Book module gets unusable slow after a short while. There is no load on my cpu, gpu or hard drive at all. After that everything else in lightroom is unusable too. Only restarting my complete PC helps. Seems to be the same problem you have but on a completely different machine.

I have an ASUS GL502VS with a GTX 1070 running Windows 10.
