Hello,

I work in a company where graphic workflow use signed .pdf in routine.

Our regulatory department needs to check the size of the fonts AFTER THEY ARE SIGNED.

Before signature, the "modification" tool can be use to select and check font sizes within the pdfs.

Once it is signed, we cannot access to this tool and can verify sizes of fonts.

Is there another way to check it in SIGNED pdfs ?

Is there another tool ?

Or a specific way to create our signature to have this function still available after ?

VERSIONS USED :

Creation of pdfs : Acrobat 10 & DC on macs

Review/font check : Acrobat reader and Pro DC on PC.

Thanks in advance,

S. JANDOT

A digital signature locks the file to prevent modification. That's the entire point behind it.

So I don't see a way of doing it within Acrobat. Maybe by using a custom-made standalone application or plugin.

Hello

Thanks for you answer.

I agree with you about the signature locks reason.

This is also why I was asking if there is another way to CHECK (not modify) only the font sizes once it is signed.

I thought of a plug-in but where to find some ?

Thanks

This is something that will have to be custom-developed.

What is the point of this check, exactly? Why do you need to know the font size?

Also, do you need to know the size of specific text, or do you just want to make sure it doesn't go above (or below) a certain value?

Hello

Our pdfs are checked by regulatory people in our company. Among their check, they verify that the font size in the pdfs are respecting the minimum size required.

It happens in day to day activity but also happens ramdomely in a old .pdf that is validated an digitally signed for many years.

With Acrobat XI we can't do it no more when selecting a part of the text and want to know size of the font.

With kind regards,

Stephane

So you just want a Go/No Go result, based on a maximum font size?

Hello

thanks for your support and patience.

well not exactly. because once the reviewer has checked the fonts size, he will estimate the risk of a go or no go.

It will be case by case and both scenarios can be accepted.

Also, sometimes it is also used to check old signed files to know where we start from and was already validated by authorities.

If a function or plug-in would scan fonts and make appear the size when we place the mouse on the texts (or select a portion of text) it would be wonderful...

With kind regards,

Stephane

I see.. I don't think that's possible, but you can try asking over at the Acrobat SDK forum, where several plugin developers hang out.

I tried both and found fonts infos but not size.

And people that should do that need a visual simple solution, not coding to look inside...

Sorry but thanks for the idea.
