How To make light feature

Hi, I'm trying to make the red light seen at the bottom of this poster:

But no matter what I do it doesn't look right, could someone show me how to do it?

Not really sure what you mean. Do you want that red gradient to extend down below the grid lines? Is you file flattened (one layer)?

No whenever I do that gradient it doesn't look right, it just looks like a red line and doesn't fade away. No the file isn't flattened.
