MAC user: Seagate format? for PSE 15?

do I need to format the seagate disk when using a macbook air?  Im not a mac but a pc user and therefore not able to use the "Import" function.  Pictures from camera card reader into Photoshop Elements 15 with the source SEAGATE external drive.

I am not a Mac user, but what is not clear for me:

- do you want to 'Import' which means 'download' files from your card or your camera directly into the DESTINATION (not source) external drive?

- Ignoring Elements, does your Mac recognize the external drive and allow you to copy files from the external drive to the internal one?
