Import to iPad/Lightroom CC from SD Card?

The only way I have found to import photos from my SD card to Lightroom CC on my iPad Pro is to bring them into Apple's Photos first, then open Lr CC and import them from Photos. Is there a way to bring them directly from the SD card into Lightroom CC? Many thanks!

No and this is a major shortcoming of this workflow. It is a restriction that Apple put in so not really Adobe's fault. I wrote about this issue a long time ago but it is unfortunately years later still a big problem: Jao's photo blog: A mobile workflow with Lightroom?

thats really sad news. Would be cool to import smart preview in LR cc App and then sync everything back once at home in front of iMac. Adobe should work with Apple to overcome that ...
