I need to get better at converting color profiles. I work images in batches, so they don't get the individual attention they need. They come from various sources, but usually as RGB already. The Action I made trims, resizes to 400x400 72 dpi, then saves as GIF and PNG. The images are converted to RGB when saving.
I don't care too much about the color profile of the GIF, that just goes into our ancient database software. But the PNGs go on the web, and I'd like to preserve the original color as much as possible.
Original Color Profile: ProPhoto RGB
Final Color Profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
Only occasionally do I notice color changes this drastic, but it's enough for me to want to prevent if I can. Is there anything I can do?
How are you changing from the old to the new profile?
You should Convert to the new profile not Assign the new profile

Yep, that's an assign, not a convert.
