Bookmark in navigation panel

How do I add the bookmark icon to the navigation panel? I download a magazine every month and the bookmark was always there--until today. The latest issue has no bookmark icon. Makes it really difficult to see the index for the magazine. Thank you for any answer.

Are you using Reader or Acrobat? If the former, the Bookmarks section will only be visible if there are actually bookmarks in your file.

Otherwise there's no point to it, since Reader can't add or edit bookmarks.

The magazine opens in Reader--not anything I do. The bookmark was always there--for several years of monthly issues. Nov issue--no bookmark. If I understand you correctly it is how the magazine publisher created the downloadable magazine.

Correct. If they didn't add bookmarks to the file you won't see this panel

in Reader.
