I have a smart object with a liquify filter applied which I want to maintain, however when I try to crop the image using the Crop tool, the filter is distorted, ruining the look of the smart object. How can I crop the image but still keep the filter looking as is?

Maybe try making the text with the filter a smart object again - so the filter is inside the smart object?

Can you post a screenshot of what's happening - before you crop and after. This doesn't sound like it should be happening with what you have described.

Screenshots below of the process. I simply crop down the image to centre the mockup and the liquify filter becomes distorted, is there a way I can stop this and retain it?

I can't reproduce this. You can crop first, then use the liquify filter... my Photoshop CC 2018 is behaving as expected.

The reason I am having trouble is because I don't want to have to use the liquify filter from scratch after I crop it, I want to keep the filter I have used before I perform the crop?
