Program Error when masking

I am getting a program error that says the workspace can't be selected because of a program error when I try to select and mask in Photoshop CC 2018.  I've tried on multiple images, tried closing and restarting nothing is working - can anyone help???

Could you please try restoring Photoshop preferences to default? Refer this documentation on how to restore the preferences Preferences in Photoshop
