PS Element 2018 rotating corrupts photo

I'm in a trial version of PE2018. When I attempted to rotate a photo, it corrupted the photo and the program abended.  When I restarted and attempted to rotate another photo, it corrupted that photo.  This is a MAJOR issue.  Please help me restore my pictures.  Thanks

Technical: PE 2018 running on HP desktop 6 core with 10gb memory - Windows 7.
