2018 select and mask

Everyone says how the 2018 select and mask has been improved. Well for me it is impossible to use! I have a decent desktop computer which is pretty fast. I never have any issues with it normally. However when I try and use select and mask, it buffers for ages, like 5 minutes, and when it does work it does a dreadful job. Does anybody have any ideas as to what the problem could be?

Hi Tony

Try a couple of things :

1. Go to Preferences >Performance >Graphics Processor > Advanced and uncheck Open CL.  There are some who have had issues both with speed and with quality that are improved after unchecking that option.

You will need to start/open a new document to see the changes.

2. If that does not change go to Preferences > General >Reset Preferences on Quit. Then click OK and close and restart Photoshop.

It's absolutely unusable! It just freezes. The cursor can move around but it doesn't do anything after about 20 seconds of working on an image

I changed the 'Drawing Mode' from 'Advanced' to 'Normal' and that worked better, but far from perfect!

I don't see anything in that system info that would stop Select & Mask.

I would suggest contacting Adobe (support details are at the top of the forum page). They will be able to work directly with you on your system and hopefully resolve your issue.
