Downloaded Adobe Photoshop Version: 19.0 20170929.r.165 2017/09/29: 1138933  x64 few days ago and now no masking tool is working for me!  When I enter select and mask the photo disappears. Very frustrating!! No meny in the property panels appears and quick mask and add a mask tool in layer panel works either. I must be doing something wrong. Never had this problem before.

What to do?

Hi,

this issue should be resolved in the 19.0.1 update.

If a preference reset, as advised by cinziamarotta   does not work for you, try going to Preferences>Performance>Graphics Processor Settings > Advanced and uncheck "Use Open CL"
