PDF files not being opened without error message

Hi since I updated to DC I can't open PDF files anymore. I'm on macOS Sierra. When double clicking PDFs, using the File menu or even opening recent files, nothing happens, not even an error message. I restarted system, no change. Double check the window is not minimized (which is what it felt like) but it's not.

Any help?

Hello Peterr,

As per the description above, you are not able to open any PDF files, Is that correct?

Please refer and try the steps from the following KB docs See how to troubleshoot problems opening PDF files and other PDF related issues  Link: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-problems-opening-pdfs.html

Can't open PDF Link: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/cant-open-pdf.html

You may also check for any pending updates from Help Menu>Check for updates.

Try to repair the installation files as well (Windows only) from Help Menu>Repair installation.

If the issue persists, please share the following details:

  • Is it Reader or Acrobat installed, check from Help Menu>About Adobe Acrobat or Reader.
  • Is it a Mac or Windows machine?
  • Is it happening with all the PDFs or with one PDF file?

Hope this helps, and let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Anand Sri.
