How do I stop PS6 from saving a jpg file as .eps file?

Have a PS6 question (and please no comments about the cc as I am already using it on my limit of 2 computers)

-> When saving a file using Save or Save As and want the format to be a .jpg, PS6 is saving the file as an .eps

-> I have tried flattening the layers & reducing the size first, but it didn't help. Generally these have been DNG files (which shouldn't matter)

->What do I need to do to get it to save the file in the jpeg format?

-> Don't want to have to use Save for Web (takes longer)

Thanks

It sounds like you might need to reinstall Photoshop. Make sure you deactivate it first through the help menu. I would also use the CC cleaner tool: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

There are instructions for using it with CS6.

You have jpg selected as the file type and it's still saving as an EPS? Can you show some screen shots?

I have a screen print but have to figure out how to add it

It's a tiff file that I want to save as a jpeg

I flattened it but it happens when i don't flatten it

I also change the size for the jpegs but that doensn't seem to matter either

Had to re-save this in PS5 because the eps wouldn't load

The format is sticky. Are you sure that JPG isn't listed in the Format drop-down menu when you Save As?

If its not reset your Photoshop preferences.

Reset your preferences which in recent versions of Photoshop you can do under the General tab in Photoshop preferences. If you don't have that facility in your version: Close Photoshop then hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) or Cmd + Ctrl + Opt + Shift (Mac), and relaunch Photoshop. Respond in the affirmative to the dialog asking if you really want to replace the preferences.

The option to reset preferences isn't there

So I did the restart as you said, but it did not ask about the preferences

It did ask about - Delete PS Program Settings files

     - Tried both yes and no

Now it won't open anything

It says - Could not complete your request because of a program error.

If it's working, and you reinstalled PS, you don't need to use CC Cleaner. You use that after you uninstall, and before you reinstall. Glad it's working now.
