1. Re: H264 blu ray
ExactImage May 10, 2012 8:12 AM (in response to richard ar)Blu-ray does not support progressive at 1080, only 720, so any BD at 1080 is 1080i not 1080p.

richard ar May 10, 2012 8:34 AM (in response to ExactImage)Hello,
Thank's for the fast answer.
Clear answer.
Then my final question is why do presets such as HD 1080P 23.976 for Blu ray in CS 6 exist.
Thank's again

ExactImage May 10, 2012 8:51 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Yeah, sorry, 24p is the only 1080 progressive. That's probably where they ran out of bandwidth

richard ar May 10, 2012 10:04 AM (in response to richard ar)I sad before my final question.
It is a pity because the native footage is 1080 P.
Than it migt be better to export it to mov again.
Can you really see the differents between interlace or progressive.
Because people want Blu ray ofcourse insteat of a mov file.
By the way I heard that 720 P is better than 1080 i.
thank's again

When you say you 'heard' it, perhaps you could also tell us the context of the conversation. To say 720p is better than 1080i is a rather broad statement and really needs to be defined a little better. If 720p was 'always' better than 1080i then no one would ever use 1080i.
Properly encoded 1080i can look stunning, and better than 720p in many cases.
My suggestion is that you encode some of each (take a sample 1 minute section) and make a disc. Play it back and see for yourself.
When we encode from the 5D2 to Blu-ray we use 1080i. When we encode for the web we use 1080p. Can most people tell the difference? No.
The only thing to add is that the 5D2 can't resolve a full 1920x1080 even though that is how the footage is encoded. OTOH, I see no reason to encode it as 720p.
