1. Re: How can one forward a subdomain with masking?
5iveMEDIA May 11, 2012 12:10 PM (in response to 5iveMEDIA)Well no responses yet, but as I dreamed about a solution I visualized using the A record in the domain managment to point to an external ip and what that could lead to. So I pointed to a domain alias at my registrar's ip, which I set up to forward and mask to the external url I had wanted to get to in the first place. In essence, a two hop solution. After an hour or possibly longer we'll see if it worked. I'll report results in order to help some other person who may have the same issue on down the road.

Adrian.King Jul 9, 2013 1:32 AM (in response to 5iveMEDIA)Hi SiveMEDIA,
Did this work out well?
I've been trying to get something like this to work so that I could have a subdomain map to a sub-folder, and mask the sub-folder from the browser.
If you could please elaborate on what you did and how it worked, I'd really appreciate it.
Cheers,
Adrian

7. Re: How can one forward a subdomain with masking?
TheBCMan Jul 9, 2013 7:11 PM (in response to 5iveMEDIA)If the external website does not use absolute URLs in their links, imgs, CSS, etc (no one should do this but I have to pre-text my solution with this).
Do it on the DNS level, set a CNAME up for the subdomain to the other URL.
External URL:
BC subdomain:
Setup the CNAME for my.website.com -> abc.com

9. Re: How can one forward a subdomain with masking?
TheBCMan Jul 9, 2013 9:44 PM (in response to Liam Dilley)I have read it, what does she want to do then if I have it wrong? I'm sorry if my answers confuse you.
She wants to see a different websites content but keep the orginal URL. You don't need to re-direct, and if you were planning to recommend an IFRAME why not use a DNS CNAME?
She wants the content of http://abc.com to display when she goes to http://my.website.com ? Am I wrong?
