shooternz May 12, 2012 4:27 PM (in response to kdcwll)How do you know they are "corrupted"? (ie whats the error message?)
You could take a look at your workflow , hardware ...maybe to see whats causing this because it isn the the norm for the majority of users.

kdcwll May 12, 2012 5:03 PM (in response to shooternz)I try to open a project I worked on previously and then the screen goes white and premiere quits. I try all backups with the same result. Then I open a new project and import the sequence from one of the projects that I can't open and it imports fine but of course I've lost all the editing. I am completely new to video editing. I checked my codecs before importing the video to make sure I have the correct settings. Wouldn't a new iMac be compatible? I ordered that online so there isn't anything unusual. I have the CS5 standard suite (InDesign, psd,ai) installed as well as Premiere Elements.

shooternz May 12, 2012 5:11 PM (in response to kdcwll)If you are able to import a project into a new one ...you need to open the Sequence to get back your "editing" ( The Timeline sequence)
Reagrding project corruption and the white out. I have no idea but... sounds like hardware more than project level issues.
Advise what your hardware is and advise what your project settings are.
Hopefully a Mac person will stroll by here for you.

My camcorder is Sony HD CX110.

kdcwll May 12, 2012 5:51 PM (in response to kdcwll)Oh and when the file is opening it gets as far as the menu names (file, Edit, etc) appearing at the top and below that the screen is white and then pp just quits and asks me to submit a crash report.

9. Re: Every project gets corrupted
kdcwll May 12, 2012 6:10 PM (in response to kdcwll)I used Media Inspector to provide most of the codecs and guessed at the rest.

10. Re: Every project gets corrupted
shooternz May 12, 2012 6:19 PM (in response to kdcwll)I doubt the preset is the issue but FWIW...to set up a matching sequence where your Sequence matches your source footage...simply drag a clip onto a NEW Sequence. You will informed that it matches or otherwise and given an option to make it do so (or otherwise)

shooternz May 12, 2012 6:21 PM (in response to kdcwll)BTW - have you installed Codecs additional to what came with your OS and Premiere?

kdcwll May 12, 2012 6:39 PM (in response to shooternz)Thx. Yes, media Inspector is an additional app. I'm thinking of downloading the trial for pp cs6 to see if that makes a difference.

rdolishny (DC) Jul 10, 2012 5:31 PM (in response to kdcwll)I'm having the same problem. I haven't changed anything other than my media drive getting pretty full. I'm moving some media to a portable drive at the moment.
I spent about 10 hours in a project and it was all going well ... then the project fails to fully reload. It appears to load, but the viewers are white and one of my four CPUs are running full speed. If I'm patient I can press play and wait maybe 10 seconds the I'll hear just the audio, no video.
Again, nothing has chaged except for the drive getting full and I'll report back on that in a second.
I WAS once able to copy the entire project from the bins folder, close premiere, open premiere, create a new project, and press CTRL v. Amazing, it worked.
Once.

rdolishny (DC) Jul 10, 2012 6:53 PM (in response to rdolishny (DC))I may have a solution. At least for me I'm back up and running.
I'm using an ATI 4500 graphics card which isn't new or fancy by any definition, but there was a problem with the AMD Catalyst softare not upgrading to 10.4 or higher.
The solution was to uninstall the AMD software, then manually download and install the 10.6 beta driver for 'legacy' cards like mine.

Just FYI in case anyone else has this problem.
