Tried to install flash player on 10.6 Mac.  The icon appears, but won't take my adobe password even though it will at their website.

Can you be a little bit more detailed about what you are doing...

"The icon appears" - what icon, the Flash Player installer?

Then when you try to install, you are requested a password?  Most likely that is your machine's local Admin password.
