I have a H264 clip which the QT player says is 32.05sec, AE CS5 says it's 32.05 sec, FCP says it's 32.05 sec...
BUT CS6 says it's 31.15 sec. Same file, frame rate, size, colors, etc. (this is the source file and also is the incorrect time when dropped into a comp)
Seems to be a serious error which makes CS6 unusable in our production flow.
I even looked through preferences for the "make source movies the correct lenght" check box.
Am I missing something?
What are your project timebase settings? Check that. I'm sure it's soem mixup on that end.
Project settings in AE cs6 for timecode have changed a lot! Not for the better it seems.
Changing timebase in project settings does nothing to the source footage time. Seems to be how AEcs6 interprets h264 files as they ALL are wrong.
Yeah, I could do the math and change the frame rate in "interpret footage" but why.
Still looking for that button...
What's the frame rate? I'm guessing 23.976. If so, this is a known bug with H.264 QuickTime files, and we're working on a fix.
The fix is already out for Adobe Media Encoder, as you can see here:
